If Revelstoke is not on your Bucket List, it ought to be. And now is the time to cross it off your list. Revelstoke was named as a “must do trip” on National Geographic’s Ultimate Adventure Bucket List and is considered the Powder Capital of Canada.
Here you’ll find big terrain, big pitch, big snowfall and big vertical. Revelstoke Mountain Resort is also the only resort world-wide to offer lift, cat, heli and backcountry skiing from one village base. Revelstoke has the longest vertical in North America at 1,713 meters/ 5,620 feet (104 meters more than Whistler Blackcomb), and the longest run, Last Spike, is 9.4 miles! In terms of size, it is about the same as other major resorts, such as Breckenridge and Panorama. With a base elevation of 1680ft (512M) and a top elevation 1580ft (2225M), there are no worries of altitude sickness or breathlessness due to high elevations.
The Revelstoke skiing terrain is largely below the tree line and consists of super long steep groomers, mellow groomed runs, moguls, glades, and tree skiing. Alpine bowl skiing is available in the North Bowl and a hike-to area above The Stoke chair.
With terrain splits of 7% beginner, 45% intermediate and 48% advanced, the main niche of the resort is for advanced skiers and those who want to progress to backcountry skiing. The resort is not as well suited to beginners or low-end intermediates, but this isn’t to say that these groups won’t find some appropriate terrain here.
